The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators has placed a drop box in the VPSO lobby. Persons with unwanted prescription medications can bring them to VPSO and place them in the secure drop box for disposal. This drop box  DOES NOT    accept syringes or medical equipment of   any kind.

                                                                                    NOTICE OF MEETING TO ADOPT TAX MILLAGE

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 7, Section 23 (C) of the Constitution and R.S.  47:1705  (B)  that a public hearing  of the Vernon Parish Law Enforcement District will be held at it's regular meeting place in the office of the Sheriff, located at 203 South 3rd Street, Courthouse Annex Building, Leesville, LA on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approvalor adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year's maximum. The increased millage would change the millage 7.90 back to 7.92, increasing taxes collected from $1,088,198.68 to an estimated $1,090,953.62, a difference of $2,754.94. The increased millage would also change millage 12.34 back to 12.37, increasing taxes collected from $1,699,793.89 to an estimated $1,703,926.29, a difference of $4,132.40. Total millages for both would increase the law enforcement total millage from 20.24 back to 20.29, increasing the total taxes collected from $2,787,992.57 to an estimated $2,794,879.9, a total difference of, for both millages, $6,887.34.
